UDM specializes in identifying indigenous (native) species and also non-native species that have naturalized in
the Northeast.
A botanical investigation of your property would provide you with the following:
1. An inventory of the vegetation present including the common name, family name, genus and species.
2. UDM can provide you with information regarding the preference of each plant species for wet/dry or sun/shade
conditions.
3. UDM can identify the following edible plants on your property (blueberry bushes, black huckleberry, elderberry,
fruit trees) and help you to cultivate your wild food sources.
In addition, UDM can also provide information on the wildlife habitat value of each plant species including identifying
the wildlife species which may prefer certain plants for eating, nesting, resting or overwintering.
What can plants tell us by their presence, vigor or abundance about the past,
present and future course of their habitat?" What can plants tell us about our management hopes for the land?
Once a forest is cut what will replace it?
