"home environment" is the summation of all biotic (living) and abiotic (nonliving) factors that surround
and potentially influence an organism.

UDM can investigate the ecological characteristics of your property. We will provide you with a report which emphasizes the biotic (vegetation and wildlife) and abiotic (soils, topography, surficial geology) characteristics of your land. Ecosystems will be identified (wetlands, upland forest, meadow etc.) and their properties characterized. The report will also recommend methods to maintain and enhance your ecosystems.
A UDM ecological report will include the following:
1. Identifying ecological landscape(s) including:
What type of vegetated habitats do you have on your property?
What types of birds and other wildlife are attracted to your property?
What type of soils do you have (do they influence vegetation/wildlife on your property)?
What type of surficial geology underlies your property?
What is the topography on your land?
2. Characterizing the relationships between the biotic and abiotic factors described in the ecological landscape.
3. Summarizing the findings and providing recommendations if requested on how to maintain your ecosystems and improve
the health of degraded systems if possible.
In addition, an individual report on any one, or several, of the topics listed above can be prepared.
This report does not include information regarding whether your property, or particular ecosystems, are protected
by any federal, state or town environmental regulations.
